They proposed, you said ‘Hell Yes!’ and now it’s time for the next step. Save the dates! Arguably one of the most fun to-dos on your checklist, this kicks off the official countdown to the wedding. Save the dates are your chance to highlight your personality as a couple and be a little bit more playful than the rest of your wedding correspondence.
Whether you go with a photo-based save the date or text-only there are some standard items to include. Here are the basics:
- The date. (ahem)
- Your names.
- The city and state so out-of-towners can start thinking about their travel options.
- A wedding website. (This can be a nice way to give your guests a little something extra. Populate it with some couple pics like engagement photos or fun Instagrams and maybe the story of how you met. Your site doesn’t need to be completely finished at this point. Think of it as a teaser.)
- If you don’t have or don’t want to include a wedding website simply say “Details to follow” or “Invitation to follow” so your guests know that more information is coming.
- A fun extra: include a wedding hashtag if you have one
