Biz Spotlight: Tanveer Badal Photography

We love seeing how creative entrepreneurs and small business owners use Makr to promote themselves! After a busy year of travel, photographer Tanveer Badal is making his marketing and branding a top priority, and while he’d “rather spend time shooting than designing promos, Makr made it easy!”

Tanveer used the app to create promotional packets to send to industry contacts. He designed business cards, promo note cards and return address labels. Tanveer took advantage of Makr’s low-quantity print options to create several different versions of his branded note cards, each one featuring a different photo from his portfolio.

Awesome, effective branding combines sleek design, pertinent information and consistent aesthetics across its different touch-points. Tanveer covers all these bases by applying his logo to all his note cards and using the same font for his name on other pieces. Because he uses the camera icon, it’s immediately clear what his brand is all about.

How did you get your start in photography?

I’ve always enjoyed traveling and took tons of photos during my trips. Then, about six years ago, I bought an expensive Canon 5D camera and forced myself to learn how to use it. I read the instruction manual front to back and dug into several online resources like Creative Live videos, a great resource for sharpening certain skills like lighting or portraiture. Thousands of photos later, I’ve been able to merge two of my passions – travel and photography – and leave my former career in digital marketing to be a full-time photographer.

What do you think is the key to great branding?

As a photographer, I like design that steps back and lets the photography dominate. I’m by no means a professional designer, which is why I was initially attracted to Makr. Because of all the templates, a non-professional designer like me can use it.
